The holiday season is upon us and that means reunions, parties and… entertaining! How about muddling some new and interesting drinks for your guests that are simple and yet crowd-pleasers.

Here are some really delicious cocktail recipes suited for the upcoming season:

Cape Masquerade – A cocktail that is simple to make with a dash of Cointreau that doesn’t alter the taste too much but peeks out just when needed. In a shaker, add a few ice cubes followed by 2 parts vodka, 1 part Cointreau, 1 part spiced rum and 8 parts cranberry juice. Shake well and serve with ice and a straw.

Hurricane – A delicious cocktail recipe that will make you a favourite host. Fill your shaker with ice and add 2 parts white rum, 2 parts dark rum, 3 parts passion fruit syrup and 1 part lime juice. Shake well and strain into a hurricane glass. Garnish with some cherries and serve with a straw.

Nuclear Iced Tea – An improv of Long Island Iced Tea, this cocktail will definitely get spirits high. In a tall glass combine 1 part vodka, 1 part rum, 1 part gin, 1 part Midori, 1 part Cointreau and 5 parts of lemon juice. Top it up with lemonade and still well. Garnish with a slice of lemon and serve with a straw.

Black Russian – A classic cocktail, the Black Russian has a few versions, all delicious. In your shaker combine 5 parts vodka and 2 parts Kahlua, Tia Maria or any other coffee liqueur. Shake firmly, strain and serve. Some people add Coke to this drink to make it less potent. You can add 5 parts of coke this mixture after straining.

Singapore Sling – A sophisticated cocktail recipe, but when done right, this classic is sure to have your guests asking for more. In a shaker combine 4 parts gin, 2 parts cherry brandy, 1 part Cointreau, a small dash of Angostura Bitters, a small dash of Grenadine, 1 part fresh lemon juice, 8 parts pineapple juice. Shake it well, strain into a chilled hurricane glass, top it with a slice of pineapple and voila! Your Singapore Sling is ready to be served.

Don’t be surprised if your guests want to keep coming back to party at your place once you serve these cocktails!
